Collaboration Balmain X H&M


As per our previous article on the fabulous brand’s participation in Paris Fashion Week, another buzz-inducing news in the fashion world is the Balmain x H&M collaboration. The collection is expected to hit stores and digital shelves on 5 November, with Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn, and Kendall Jenner leading the campaigns.

Olivier Rousteing, the 29-year-old creative director of Balmain, will enchant you into queuing up for hours for his clothes, because they are that amazing. To add to that, the young fashion genius has a truly genuine passion for the art itself, seeing that he grew up in an orphanage, where clothes became his identifier, where “you create a world, your own world”.

Some of you may be familiar with the term ‘Balmain Army’, which indicates the French brands loyal group of beautiful friends who often wear the brand’s clothing to big events, such as Kendall Jenner, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, and Taylor Swift. However, with this partnership, Balmain is turning its Army into a Nation, as their pieces become more accessible to the general public.

The Balmain x H&M campaigns

The three models have actually been wearing pieces from the collection to high-profile events. The one completely new look in the campaign would be Kendall’s sleeveless tuxedo-style jacket paired with a jumpsuit in the first photo.

Another thing we noticed: HUGE accessories. Monster-sized rings, gigantic earrings, extravagant necklaces…

The Balmain x H&M collection is extremely similar to the Balmain mainline, especially when you look at the beaded jackets and dresses. The difference with the Balmain mainline is that the collection is made in China. We are a bit disappointed, that Olivier Rousteing choose the amount despite the quality of the Balmain made in France. One thing to note though is that the collection is not purse-friendly at all. Gigi Hadid’s limited edition dress alone (which she wore to a New York Fashion Week party) already costs more than 400 euros.
